Traffic Court Records in Martin County
Martin Circuit Court 1, code 51C01, serves as the county's active Odyssey trial court for infractions, ordinance violations, and county-level traffic filings. No separate city or town court operates in Loogootee, Shoals, or Crane. Under Administrative Rule 8, the former Martin/Loogootee City Court, 51H01, is abolished.
The Martin County Clerk holds the official traffic case record. Through MyCase, you can often see the case number, court, charge or violation, CCS events, settings, financials, and disposition when public. Indiana ePay does less. It checks whether a ticket is eligible for online payment and may list the ticket date, issuing agency, court, case number, offense, balance, and eligibility. It is not the full traffic docket.
Martin County ePay Search Fields
The Martin County ePay screen gives you three ways to search. Stick to the official HTTPS portal, since private data belongs there and nowhere else. If a ticket qualifies for online payment, the portal shows a processor fee before you commit. That fee can shift, so treat no amount as fixed. One more caution comes from the portal itself. Some Indiana tickets never appear here. Some that do can't be paid online.
| Search Mode | Required Input | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Ticket or UTT | Ticket number | Direct lookup when the citation is at hand |
| Driver’s license | License number | Finds eligible payment records, not a public driver history |
| Name and birth date | First, last, and DOB; middle optional | Payment lookup when the ticket number is unavailable |
A search result may end with a Pay Online button. That button is not the whole story. Reading the citation still matters, because a ticket can demand a court response, fall outside ePay entirely, or simply not have reached the system yet.
How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket
Start with the number printed on the ticket itself. That number is the key to most Martin County traffic record lookups. If you only want to know whether online payment is possible, search ePay. When you need the CCS, court dates, or a disposition, turn to MyCase. Search there by citation number or case number. If both searches come up empty, try a name search carefully. Then call the Martin County Clerk for help.
- Record the UTT or citation number, issuing agency, appearance information, and any Martin case number.
- Try the ticket number in ePay and note the named court, balance, and eligibility without assuming the result is complete.
- Search MyCase under Martin Circuit Court 1 by citation or case number.
- If the ticket is missing, try the permitted name search and check data entry and filing timing.
- Call or visit the Clerk for the official file, balance, disposition, or an older transferred ticket.
You can reach the Clerk's counter at 129 Main Street, Shoals, Indiana 47581. Mail goes to PO Box 120, Shoals, IN 47581. The office lists (812) 247-3651 and fax (812) 247-2791. Weekday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Plenty of tickets stay hidden for innocent reasons. Timing, eligibility rules, mismatched data, juvenile handling, confidentiality, or a transfer to another court can all keep a ticket off the docket. An empty result does not prove the ticket never existed.
When Martin County ePay Finds Nothing
Work through a fallback chain when ePay comes up empty. Recheck every digit of the ticket number first. Then try the case field and the citation field in MyCase, one at a time. If a case number surfaces, verify that the court listed is Martin Circuit Court 1, because a matter once handled by the abolished Loogootee City Court may now carry a new receiving-court identifier under Indiana's abolished-court transfer protocol.
No result: Contact the Martin County Clerk before the appearance or payment date. A portal gap does not extend a deadline.
The Indiana public-access handbook supplies statewide context for court information.

The handbook encourages going straight to the court or clerk when an electronic screen gives you only part of the picture. What it cannot do is convert restricted case data into public information.
Finding Your Traffic Court Date
Start with the citation itself. The appearance information printed there is your first source. Next, search CourtCal for any near-term Martin County hearing. Then compare what you find against MyCase. CourtCal covers the prior seven days through the next four weeks. It lists the case number, style, court, date, time, hearing description, and judicial officer. It offers no separate courtroom field, though.
| Citation Number | The UTT number printed on the citation; formats vary. |
|---|---|
| Case Number | The court identifier may begin 51C01 for the active Martin court. |
| Court | Confirm Martin Circuit Court 1 rather than assuming a city court. |
| Date and Time | Compare the citation, CourtCal result, and current CCS entry. |
| Hearing Type | Read the description literally and do not assume every setting is a trial. |
| Location | Confirm the courtroom or appearance method with the court or Clerk. |
Treat any listing as provisional. A continuance, cancellation, or reset can change the setting on short notice, so for an imminent hearing call the Clerk or Martin Circuit Court at (812) 247-3652. CourtCal is a planning aid, not proof the hearing will happen as first listed. For more calendar detail, see the Martin County court calendar.
Martin County Payment Routes
Martin County Clerk page shows three ways to pay a ticket. Pay at the counter with cash, a money order, a cashier's check, or a credit card, and bring matching identification for the card. Prefer mail? A money order, cash, or business check works. Eligible cases can also go through ePay. Call ahead or check the clerk's site for current payment rules and the mailing address before you send anything.
| Channel | Method Documented | Check First |
|---|---|---|
| In person | Cash, money order, cashier’s check, or credit card with matching ID | Balance, hours, and case number |
| Money order, cash, or business check | Address, amount, identifier, and receipt route | |
| Online | ePay for an eligible ticket | Eligibility and dynamic processor fee |
Keep payment records lean. For your own Martin County matter, that means the citation, court, case number, filed date, violation, balance, and status. Leave out license numbers, birth dates, addresses, and any private details tied to someone else.
Paying or Contesting a Ticket
Paying and fighting a ticket are two different roads. The ePay button only pays an eligible matter. It will not request a hearing, file a contested response, or grant pretrial deferral. To contest, follow the response and appearance instructions printed on the citation itself, since the ticket and the governing law set the deadlines rather than any assumed Martin County cutoff date.
| Paying | Contesting or Deferral |
|---|---|
| Confirm eligibility and the full amount with ePay or the Clerk. | Use the ticket’s court and appearance instructions. |
| Use an accepted counter, mail, or online method. | Contact the court about the required plea or hearing route. |
| Retain the receipt and later verify the court disposition. | For pretrial deferral questions, call the Martin County Prosecutor at (812) 247-3500. |
Do not miss the response date: An unpaid ticket can lead to court-to-BMV action or tax-refund interception. Contact the Clerk at once if the deadline or status is unclear.
Per the state traffic-payment guidance, the Department of Revenue takes a 10 percent processing fee when it intercepts a tax refund. The same guidance notes a failure-to-pay status stays on your BMV record until the court reports the change. These are administrative consequences, not a new traffic docket.
Martin County Payment Consequences
The state traffic-payment page breaks down what a Martin County court debt can set in motion once a payment is late, from collection efforts to BMV consequences.

Paying a Martin County traffic ticket does more than close a balance. The court files an SR16 or a payment abstract with the state. That filing can set other processes in motion. The Martin County Clerk is still where the case balance and court disposition live. Check there first.
Handle the ticket itself with the court. For license status or a motor-vehicle record, go to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. No state exchange of that kind builds a public driver-history service.
Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record
Two files sit behind one ticket. The Martin County court docket holds the citation as a case, with filings, hearings, and the court record of what happened. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps a separate driver record built from state reporting. A clean ePay search does not prove the court file is clean, and neither ePay nor MyCase amounts to a full driver record.
| Court Traffic Record | Driver Record | |
|---|---|---|
| Kept By | Martin County Clerk and Martin Circuit Court | Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles |
| Shows | Citation, case events, settings, plea, financials, and disposition as public | Motor-vehicle status and reported history under BMV rules |
| How to Get It | MyCase, CourtCal, ePay for payment, or the Clerk | The official BMV record channel |
Let each office answer its own question. The court docket tells you what happened in the case; ask BMV about license status or its own record. Keeping the two straight stops a payment result from being mistaken for a full disposition or a motor-vehicle history.
Martin County Probation Is Separate
A disposed Martin County traffic case may carry probation or another supervision term, but supervision files are not part of the public traffic docket. The official Martin County Probation page shows a separate local office with its own records.

That boundary matters when you request records. Ask the Clerk for the public case disposition. Treatment, assessment, supervision, and other protected program details do not belong in a public traffic-record request.
Fees and Copies
Copies from the Martin County Clerk cost $1 per page, with $3 for each certification. Those charges cover paper, not the ticket balance. A ticket total can include court assessments, and an eligible online payment may add a separate dynamic processor fee. Confirm both amounts in the specific case.
| Item | Amount | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Plain traffic case copy | $1 per page | Order from the Martin County Clerk |
| Certification | $3 each | Request when an official certified copy is required |
| Online processor fee | Varies | Shown for the eligible ePay transaction |
Need formal proof? Ask the Clerk for a certified disposition. Provide the court case number, the citation number if known, the document you want, your return contact details, and your preferred copy type. Check postage costs and accepted payment methods before you mail any funds.
Martin County Traffic Appeal Boundary
A routine Martin County traffic case starts in the state trial-court system. Federal appellate material plays no part in an ordinary ticket lookup. The official Seventh Circuit site shows that distinct federal route, which runs on an entirely separate track from a county docket search.

Do not search a Martin County citation through the federal page. Start with ePay, MyCase, CourtCal, or the Martin County Clerk. If a real appeal is pending, follow the court's notice and the proper Indiana appellate record route.
