How to Search the Loogootee Court Docket
Loogootee does not have a current separate court-search portal in the official sources reviewed. Start with Indiana MyCase and choose Martin Circuit Court 1. Search by case, name, or attorney. A known case, citation, or cross-reference number is the cleanest input. A person search needs a last name plus another permitted name or birth-date element. Similar names do not prove identity.
- Gather the Loogootee party name, citation, old court number, or current case number.
- Open MyCase and select Martin Circuit Court 1, identified as 51C01.
- Review the caption, case type, filed date, status, and CCS entries for a match.
- Use CourtCal separately when the main goal is a near-term hearing date.
- Ask the Martin County Clerk about a missing file or former 51H01 record.
The Clerk can help at the Shoals counter, by phone at (812) 247-3651, fax at (812) 247-2791, mail to PO Box 120, Shoals, IN 47581, or the email listed on its official page. Call Martin Circuit Court at (812) 247-3652 for courtroom and setting questions. Loogootee municipal staff are the route for city business, not a substitute for the court file.
Loogootee Municipal and Court Counters
Two offices serve different needs. The Loogootee Municipal Building is at 401 J.F.K. Avenue, Loogootee, with phone (812) 295-1000 and posted weekday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The city contact can address municipal records and help identify the proper local department. The Martin County Clerk's court-record counter is at 129 Main Street in Shoals. A request for a CCS, court order, case balance, or certified copy belongs with the Clerk.
The county's cities and towns directory supplies a captured Loogootee contact listing:
The directory confirms the city address and contact route. It does not establish an active Loogootee court or prove that a court record is stored at city hall.
The Loogootee Municipal Court
There is no current active Loogootee municipal court in the official Indiana court and Odyssey listings reviewed. Administrative Rule 8 marks Martin/Loogootee City Court, identifier 51H01, abolished. Current county-filed criminal, civil, family, probate, infraction, ordinance, and traffic matters route through Martin Circuit Court 1 when that court has the case. A municipal web page or building does not change that court structure.
This point prevents a common error. The official Loogootee city website is a valid municipal source, shown here:
The image verifies the city government route, not a present judicial docket. Ask the city about municipal records and the Martin County Clerk about court records.
Loogootee Population and Court Context
The 2020 Census incorporated-place table counts 2,601 residents in Loogootee. That makes Loogootee the largest of Martin County's three incorporated places, ahead of Shoals and Crane. Population rank explains why a Loogootee court docket lookup is a frequent local need, but it does not create a separate judicial district or assign a share of county cases to the city.
County statistics aggregate Martin Circuit Court work. They should not be divided by population or used to invent a Loogootee caseload. The Indiana trial-statistics help explains reporting terms in this captured source:
Incoming, pending, and disposed counts have distinct meanings and remain countywide.
Loogootee Court Dates and Settings
Use CourtCal for a Loogootee matter that has reached Martin Circuit Court. Select Martin County, optionally narrow to Martin Circuit Court, choose a date, and search by case number or caption. CourtCal covers only the prior seven days through the next four weeks. It may show the case number, style, court, date and time, hearing description, and judicial officer. The inspected display did not provide a separate courtroom field.
| Date | The hearing date within CourtCal's near-term window. |
|---|---|
| Time | The published start and any supplied end or zone detail. |
| Courtroom | Not a separate inspected portal field; confirm with the court. |
| Judge | The judicial officer supplied for the setting. |
| Setting Type | The hearing description, not a prediction of outcome. |
Compare the date with the MyCase chronological case summary, or CCS. A later continuance, reset, or cancellation entry can change the schedule. Call the court before travel when a Loogootee setting is imminent or the location is unclear.
Former Loogootee Court Number 51H01
The abolished identifier 51H01 is a historical clue, not a current search filter to treat as active. Indiana's abolished-court transfer protocol explains that outstanding cases and records may move to a receiving court. A transferred matter can receive a new court identifier. That means an old ticket, receipt, or notice may not match the current Martin Circuit Court number shown in MyCase.
Search the old number and party name, then ask the Martin County Clerk to trace the transfer. Give the former Loogootee court label, approximate date, ticket or case number, party name, and issuing agency if known. The city may help identify an ordinance record, but it should not be assumed to hold the judicial file. No official research source confirmed a separate current Loogootee ordinance-hearing database.
Loogootee Traffic Tickets
Indiana ePay offers three payment-oriented searches for eligible tickets: UTT or ticket number, driver's-license number, and name plus date of birth. Results may show the ticket date, agency, court, case number, offense, balance, and eligibility. It is not a complete Loogootee traffic docket. A missing result may reflect timing, eligibility, data mismatch, an old transfer, or a record outside the service.
The Martin County Clerk also accepts listed ticket payments at the counter, by mail, and online. In-person forms include cash, money order, cashier's check, or credit card with matching identification. Mail options listed by the Clerk include money order, cash, or business check. Confirm current handling before sending funds. Paying is not the same as contesting, asking for a hearing, or seeking pretrial deferral. The Clerk directs deferral questions to the Prosecutor at (812) 247-3500.
For a wider ticket workflow, use the Martin County traffic court records page. A former Loogootee city-court ticket may require the 51H01 transfer trail before payment or case status can be confirmed.
Loogootee Court Costs and Copies
State fee schedules give context, but the current Martin County Clerk page controls the county-facing figures used for planning. It posts copies at $1 per page and certification at $3 each. A certified copy bears the Clerk's authentication for a purpose that requires official proof. An online docket printout is not the same thing. Ask whether the record is public, how many pages it contains, and what payment and return-mail steps apply.
The official Indiana trial fee manual is shown in this captured source:
The manual is statewide context. It should not be used to invent a Loogootee municipal fee or override a current Clerk quote.
Where Loogootee Cases End Up
Current Loogootee court routing is simpler than the city-master model suggests. There is no active first stop called Loogootee Municipal Court. A city-related record may begin with municipal staff, while a court case is searched under the active Martin trial court. A former 51H01 case may pass through the abolished-court transfer process before it appears under a receiving identifier.
Docket flow: Loogootee municipal record or former 51H01 matter › transfer or filing review › Martin Circuit Court 1
MyCase is the main electronic case route, CourtCal is the hearing route, and the Clerk verifies the official file. The broader Martin County court docket explains county jurisdiction. Federal cases arising from Loogootee use the Southern District of Indiana and PACER, not MyCase.
Loogootee Community Corrections Records
Martin Community Corrections is located at 211 SE 1st Street in Loogootee. Its local presence does not make supervision, treatment, or participant files part of a public Loogootee court docket. The program office and the Clerk are separate access routes. MyCase may show a public referral, order, compliance event, or disposition when allowed, while operational program records remain restricted.
Ask the Clerk for the public CCS or order. Contact Community Corrections only for its public administrative and program information. Do not request a participant roster, treatment detail, or supervision file as though it were an ordinary docket attachment. This boundary is especially important because an office located in Loogootee can appear to be the local court record holder when it is not.
Loogootee Record Route by Need
A Loogootee request starts with the record type. Loogootee municipal minutes, permits, and city administration stay with Loogootee government. A Loogootee court case belongs in MyCase or with the Martin County Clerk. A Loogootee hearing date belongs in CourtCal and should be confirmed with Martin Circuit Court. A Loogootee ticket payment may appear in ePay, while a former Loogootee city-court ticket may need transfer research. Loogootee Community Corrections answers public program questions, but its restricted files are not Loogootee docket records.
| Loogootee need | Loogootee starting route | Loogootee fallback |
|---|---|---|
| Loogootee city record | Loogootee Municipal Building | Ask which Loogootee office is custodian |
| Loogootee court case | MyCase, Martin Circuit Court 1 | Martin County Clerk for the Loogootee-related file |
| Loogootee hearing | CourtCal with Martin selected | Circuit Court for the Loogootee setting |
| Loogootee ticket | ePay when eligible | Clerk for Loogootee payment or case status |
| Old Loogootee case | Search the former Loogootee number | Clerk traces the Loogootee transfer |
This Loogootee source map keeps a municipal request from being confused with a judicial one. Loogootee geography may explain where a Loogootee event began, but Loogootee does not supply the current court label. Use Loogootee in the facts given to the Loogootee custodian, then use 51C01 for the active Martin court and 51H01 only as a former Loogootee identifier.
Public Access to Loogootee Court Records
Indiana court-record access begins with a presumption of openness, subject to the Rules on Access to Court Records and other law. Public access is not identical to the greater access a party, attorney, or authorized court user may receive. A Loogootee case can have a public caption and CCS while attachments, personal identifiers, medical material, juvenile information, or supervision records remain confidential.
Key Rules: ACR Rule 1 creates the public-access presumption, while ACR Rule 5 identifies confidential records and data.
ACR Rule 9 governs requests to restrict dissemination of records that are not automatically confidential.
The captured ACR Rule 2 source addresses levels of court-record access:
Ask for the nonconfidential public CCS and documents by case number or party and date range. A portal no-result screen is not a formal access denial.
Loogootee Records Request Checklist
Start with the type of record, not just the Loogootee name. For a city ordinance or municipal administrative record, call the Municipal Building. For a case docket, order, disposition, balance, or certification, contact the Martin County Clerk. For a hearing room or same-day setting, call Martin Circuit Court. For an eligible ticket payment, use ePay or the Clerk's listed methods. This division avoids sending private facts to the wrong office.
- Provide the current or former case number, including 51H01 when it appears.
- Give the party name, approximate date, record type, and issuing agency when known.
- Ask for nonconfidential CCS entries and specify plain or certified copies.
- Confirm fees, postage, payment method, and the correct return channel first.
- Request the rule or order basis if access is denied or restricted.
Do not send a birth date, driver's-license number, protected address, medical information, or other sensitive material by ordinary email unless the office confirms that channel. Loogootee access works best when the request is narrow and routed to the office that actually holds the record.
