Searching Cases by Name
MyCase is Indiana's free public search for Odyssey court information. Select Martin Circuit Court 1 before adding case-type filters. For a person, the observed form requires a last name plus at least a first name, middle name, or birth date. A business search accepts the organization name. Similar names are only leads. Match the court, caption, type, filed date, and status before deciding that a result is the intended Martin County case.
- Open MyCase and choose the Name tab.
- Select Martin Circuit Court 1, then enter the last name and another permitted name or date field.
- Add an open, closed, or filing-date filter if the results are broad.
- Open a possible match and compare its court, caption, type, date, and status.
- Ask the Martin County Clerk for the official file when online detail is missing.
The public MyCase entry page appears in this captured source:
The statewide entry is the online starting point, while the Martin County Clerk remains the official record custodian.

Martin County MyCase Court Label
The precise current portal label is Martin Circuit Court 1. Its court identifier is 51C01. Martin County has one active Odyssey trial court in the official listing, so this filter is both useful and easy to overlook. Older material may show the same identifier without the modern display name. An old Loogootee City Court identifier, 51H01, is abolished and may require transfer-history research through the Clerk.
The official Odyssey courts listing documents participating courts:
This listing confirms where a current Martin County case search should be narrowed. It does not replace the case result or Clerk file.
Searching by Case Number
A Martin County case number follows Indiana's uniform structure: court identifier, filing year and month, case-type code, and sequence. A form such as 51C01-2608-CM-000123 is illustrative only, not a real case. Here, 51C01 points to Martin Circuit Court 1, 2608 supplies the year and month, CM is the type code, and the final digits form the sequence.
MyCase accepts up to 30 characters in the Case Number field. Official tips say hyphens and leading zeroes may be omitted. The same Case tab also offers Citation Number and Cross Reference fields, each with the same maximum. Use the exact identifier when known because it avoids the uncertainty of matching a common name. If an older number uses 51H01, ask the Martin County Clerk whether the case was transferred and assigned a new identifier.
Martin County Search Filters
Filters should narrow, not redefine, a search. Case-type choices load after the selected court because they are dynamic. Status choices are All, Open, and Closed. Filing-date fields use mm/dd/yyyy, and the two endpoints do not always have to be used together. A closed status does not mean the public record vanished. It means the case has reached a closed state in the portal.

Use the tips when spelling, punctuation, date, or case-number formatting blocks a likely Martin County match.
Too many results? MyCase caps a result set at 1,000, so add Martin Circuit Court 1, a case type, status, date range, or more exact spelling.
What a Case Search Returns
A result can open a public case summary with a header and several panels. Depending on the case and access rules, MyCase may show parties and roles, charges, bonds, CCS events, documents, financial entries, and sentence information. CCS means chronological case summary, the dated index of court events. A public entry should be read as written. It should not be treated as a guess about facts, fault, or outcome.
| Case Number | The uniform Martin County identifier, including court and type codes. |
|---|---|
| Style / Parties | The caption and public party-role information. |
| Case Type | A code and label for the case family, such as CM, SC, or ES. |
| Filed Date | The date the case opened or filing was accepted, not the event date. |
| Status | The listed state of the case and its status date. |
| CCS Events | Dated docket entries, hearing details, comments, and links when public. |
A charge is an allegation until disposition. A filed date is not a hearing date. A public header can coexist with restricted documents. Those distinctions keep a Martin County case search tied to what the court record actually says.
Martin County MyCase Help Limits
MyCase is a convenience display, not the official record. It does not cover all courts, all dates, or all documents. A no-result screen can reflect the wrong court, an older unconverted record, a spelling mismatch, weak search criteria, confidentiality, sealing, expungement, or a case type that is not exposed online. Repeating the same broad search cannot resolve every one of those causes.
The official MyCase help page explains public access and limitations:
When MyCase says nothing, contact the Martin County Clerk at (812) 247-3651. Requests can also begin at the counter, by fax at (812) 247-2791, by mail, or through the listed email after the office confirms the right channel. The Circuit Court at (812) 247-3652 handles setting and transcript-routing questions. For compiled data, use the Indiana Office of Judicial Administration bulk-data route rather than automated portal searches.
Statewide vs County Case Search
Martin County does not publish a separate local search portal in the official sources reviewed. MyCase is both the statewide public search and the electronic Martin County case-search layer for its participating Odyssey court. The county side of the comparison is therefore the Clerk's official file, not a second database. CourtCal is separate and serves near-term hearing dates rather than full case lookup.
| MyCase Statewide Search | Martin County Clerk File |
|---|---|
| Participating Indiana Odyssey courts | Official Martin Circuit Court case file |
| Free public convenience display | Direct request at counter, phone, fax, email, or mail |
| Best for locating a public case | Best for missing documents and certified proof |
A user focused on a hearing can also consult the Martin County court calendar, then return to MyCase for the CCS. The Clerk controls when official proof is required.
Historic Martin County Case Searches
Digital absence is especially weak evidence for an old matter. The Indiana State Library's Martin County microfilm guide identifies historical order books, indexes, probate material, and other record series. Those holdings predate the modern Odyssey system. Search the current portal first when a case may have been converted, then give the Clerk the names, approximate dates, case family, and any old identifier.
A transferred Loogootee City Court matter creates another possible break in the trail. Administrative Rule 8 marks 51H01 abolished. The current case may sit under Martin Circuit Court 1 or require the abolished-court transfer protocol. Do not force an old number into a modern format and assume the lack of a hit ends the search.
Access and Restricted Cases
Indiana's Rules on Access to Court Records limit public access to protected material. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, some protection-order, and sensitive family information may be confidential. Sealing, expungement, and court-ordered restrictions can also change what appears. A case header may remain public while one or more documents do not. Public access varies by case code, and the Clerk cannot disclose material that the rules keep confidential.
The official MyCase access-by-case-type page is captured here:
The matrix shows why finding a Martin County header does not guarantee that every filing can be opened online.
A person seeking access beyond the public view must use the lawful court process. Ask the Martin County Clerk which rule or order controls and how to submit the proper request. For a denial, request the rule or statute basis in writing. Never copy protected personal data from an exposed screen, and do not use repeated automated queries. MyCase can require CAPTCHA and prohibits data mining.
Public and party access are also distinct. A party or attorney account may offer access tied to that person's role, but it does not make the same material public to all users. Registration is not a way around a Martin County restriction. If a document link is absent, identify the case number and item sought, then ask the Clerk whether a nonconfidential copy can be provided.
Martin County Search Evidence Log
Keep a small, factual search log when tracking a public Martin County case. Note the search tab, court filter, spelling, date range, result caption, case number, and the date of each CCS event reviewed. Record the exact event text instead of an interpretation. This makes it easier to explain a mismatch to the Clerk and to distinguish a new filing from a later status change.
Do not retain or publish unnecessary birth dates, addresses, or contact details that may appear in an expanded panel. A good log identifies the source and event without turning private data into a separate record. When certified proof matters, end the process with a Clerk request. The public portal helps locate the Martin County case, while the originating court record supplies authority.
